Introduction to Dashboards

Factor has two main areas for visual performance data: PULSE, which provides project-level financial dashboards, and the Firm Dashboard (also called the KPI Dashboard), which provides a firm-wide view of key performance indicators.

PULSE

PULSE is a main navigation item that gives you interactive, project-level financial analysis. When you open a project in PULSE, you can view four dashboards:

  • Budget — Tracks budget performance across the project, showing how much of the budget has been consumed and what remains.

  • Hours — Breaks down hours logged on the project by team member, phase, or role.

  • Forecast — Projects forward-looking revenue and completion estimates based on current progress.

  • Profit — Analyzes project profitability including margins, costs, and revenue.

Firm Dashboard / KPI Dashboard

The Firm Dashboard provides a firm-wide view of overall business health. It tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) across several categories:

Profit

  • Profit

  • Gross Margin

  • Realized Rate

  • Achieved Multiplier

Revenue

  • Total Revenue

  • Daily Revenue per Employee

  • Daily Revenue per Direct Employee

  • Actual to Capacity

Schedule

  • Direct Utilization

  • Overall Utilization

  • Scheduled Utilization

Staff

  • Employee Count (total, direct, and indirect)

  • Direct Employee %

  • Turnover %

  • Average Hourly Employee Cost

New Clients

  • New vs. existing clients

  • New vs. existing projects

  • Net Fee Multiplier

  • Revenue Factor

  • Overhead Rate

  • Net Fee per Employee

KPI Goals and Trending

Firms can set target goals for each KPI. Each KPI displays the current value alongside the goal, a trend indicator showing whether performance is moving in the right direction, a period-over-period comparison, and a sparkline showing historical trend over time.

Goals are entered by your firm; Factor doesn't provide default or suggested benchmark values.

Permissions

Access to dashboards is controlled by your permission role. Contact your administrator if you don't have access to PULSE or the Firm Dashboard.
